People Project by Rafael Montano

“its not so much about me taking your picture, its more about who you are”

is what you will probably remember telling every one I took a picture of, reason being is that it reality this did start as a school project and slowly is growing to be something far bigger than that, I went out to capture the everyday people, and they truly do have something special, everyone does, as Lindsey put it in an email to me;

I like the idea of looking at “everyday” people and reading a little bio about them.  Although they are “everyday” people, I get a feeling they all have something special about them, and I like that.

She really captured the essence of this, and I do hope that in the future we have more photo shoots, to further capture more people and their stories, if you are interested just visit this site or follow me on twitter: RafaelMontano and I will make sure to keep you posted.

and If you want to know more about me, Rafael Montano, the photographer behind the camera, check out my profile: Rafael Montano

If you cant find your pictures, they are probably at my sandbox, while every picture, and story is important to me, sometimes some require special attention, processing or are missing documentation (i.e. consent form)

hella snaks (snacks)

So starting my employment yesterday and my four day training at Provide-Commerce I started eating snacks... like bad snacks like things that will make a person fat...

So I went to target today and got myself some lean cuisine, which was surprisingly good, some Tazo Zen green tea, instead of drinking coffee with cream and sugar (I drink my tea with no sugar), some organic seasalt flatbread crackers, and some velveta easy mac type thing... I had too, I love cheese...

So I hope it really works out for me. and so far I love my job its really chill, not because im lazy, but because its just fun working with customers and helping them in whatever way you can.

So im hella essighted with my snacks and phood!

I love mah babe... I have lots of phun with him :)

first night at provide

its pretty chill I love my new job some people might dread the idea of working on a computer at a desk and handling a phone, but so far... keyword so far I really like it, its hella chill and I get to catch up on my reading...

Ive been here for a good 45mins and havent had a single call come in which is pretty good I guess, but seriously I hope I get a call come in very soon...

I kinda wish I could nap, not because I dont want to work but because I dont have anything to do at all... I just need to get a call...

anyways I bought the most recent edition of winq, and seriously this magazine has some of the best articles regarding gay culture, its not like the other gay magazines which have a half/naked man every other page, (look at dna if you want that) but it has some amazing articles...

This month I read a extremely disturbing article regarding the anti gay militia, it was absolutely terrible, let me just quote it and youll understand why

"The militia use an Iranian superglue known as "American Hum" to seal the victim's anus, he is then fed a laxative causing diarrhoea which is often fatal when it bursts into the blood stream"

that was probably one of the most disturbing things ive read...

I just had a call... woo

what is everyone chasing after?

love, money, and success?!

At the core of humanity those are the things people want, I want. Then why don't people reach those goals, if its not love,  its money,  and if it isn't love or money its success,  which can't be defined by how big your paycheck is, but more of a personal feeling, whereas you feel that you did all you could to reach the point that your at regardless of the pay, even tho money is important, at the core of a person id hope that all they want go be is happy and success will bring that to one

But really is that all people are chasing after? Love, success, and money?

p.s. my posts are always short because I type them out on my phone, on the go

life as it is at the moment

tiring, just a tad bit, but its all good, I guess this is what it
takes in order to reach my goals.

103 days and counting until my 18th birthday and I cant wait, just a
few more days and I will move out of my house, to start something new,
and to hopefully have everything I ever dreamed of.

right now at the moment I stand with school, working at xooro &
seaworld, volunteering, and a relationship, which honestly if it wasnt
for my partner none of me would even be able to handle what I do with
my time.

oh and my google calendar i am simply in love with it, otherwise
really itd be a huge issue.

anyways off to scheduling good night

why we dont do samples..

"awhh they dont have the samples!?" as said by a female 19yr old ish shopper

come on thats exactly why we dont have the samples, thats the reason
people just pass by and get the samples in reality so far ive gained
one sale by doing two samples, meaning that I cut two xooro's into
bits and then only gained one sale from it sure, it dont cost much to
make them, but when you come over and complain that they are too
expensive come on, really your at the mall you are here to spend, like
come on dont act like its something new

jeez thats the end of my rant.

so if you dont know by now...

I don’t drive, and I do intend to do so very soon, im just extremely lazy to go to the DMV, but who isn’t? and the other reason is because I don’t feel confident enough to retake my permit test and pass the first time again, I just really don’t want to have to go again and do it all over.

I currently use public transportation to get me to and from wherever I need to go, but my recent job and school, is now basically in a sense forcing me to get my license.

I mean public transportation is great when your growing up, but once you gotta be at multiple places in a given day, it becomes a huge inconvenience, it takes me 1.5 to 2 hours to get to mission valley from my hometown imperial beach.

So to the point now, I was reading up on the California driver handbook and in the introduction it states that they got audio versions of the handbook on their site, and its pretty awesome, so what I will do is that im going to setup the audio files into podcast format for inclusion in iTunes.

The site for the podcast is http://californiadriver.posterous.com/

Very soon you will be able to find it in the podcasts section on iTunes

hope that it prints with the right color and everything and that im
actually happy with the picture.

I really wish I could color correct my monitor but that software is a
little expensive

one printed so im going back to my processing, good night

hey, hey, boy you look so fly

amazing day today :D

Had my interview at Xooro today, felt like it went extremely well, even if I don't get hired its cool, I felt like I interviewed well and I wasn't nervous at all. It'd be awesome if I get the job I really hope I could do more than just work in the store serving customers, the place is amazing and the owners are great chill people, they seem to get what they are doing and the vision that they have for the company seems pretty awesome.

Anyways after that, I got together with my partner and we did a little shopping at target and we went to chili's near mission valley and the service was amazing it was the first time that I've gone to eat at chili's and they really surpassed my expectations the portions are big and the food was delicious, I got the grilled chicken carribean salad and I loved the sun dried cherries they are most definitely an upgrade from dried cranberries, I loved it overall.

Also today I slept amazingly I can't wait for the day I get to wake up everyday by the side of my partner :)

anyways I'm on my way home right now, good night

p.s. (p.s. means post script for those that don't know) my one year anniversary is on the 16th of this month, what to do? what to do?

yeah for real

Its such a beautiful rainy day in San Diego, and I'm on my way to an interview at Xooro in mission valley, they sell "Premium Spanish Fritters" and the whole concept is amazing, they add a new spin to the regular churros that most people had had by filling the middle with a sweet filling of your choice.

Its crazy to see how companies are brought up by simply adding a new spin on something that is already great and making it super high end looking.

Anyways I really hope that I get the job itd be awesome to work with a new company and see what I can do for them to increase their success, I hope I even get that opportunity :)

no sleep (w/picture)

picture: Alex Magee, Cindy Panyanouvong, Meggan Wornek, Rafael Montano, taken by Kip Gerenda at the Art Institute

I am so frigging tired right now, but I guess overall amazing and productive I got all my photography work together and turned it in, and had an amazing time doing our photo shoot today for class, got to work with studio lightening, I really think that in a few months I will be able to actually perform work confidently without having second thoughts.

My photography class has taught me so much and I can't wait to take another. Also my teacher is super chill and I think that as his first time teaching photography I believe he is doing amazingly well, his background is fashion design, but does freelance photography you could check out his site at http://kipgerendaphotography.com/.

Anyways right now I'm on the trolley going home to sleep and to fix a computer... my friend just called... now the plan is get home fix computer and hopefully catch some zzz's. Hopefully..

taking shape

finally my room is taking some sort of shape, I just setup my workstation because I realized that I cant work on a lil small desk which was my old setup.

Also the way that my bed was setup it was taking way too much room, Im setting up my room ina way that allows me to be productive and have open space because I realized that I cant work in a cluttered environment as I had it before.

I am going to get back to it hopefully I can get some pictures of it completely done, g'night

like a good 'ol fashion nightmare

I've come to realize that my family & I aren't really the sleeping type with the exception of my dad or maybe my dad side of the family.

Its 3am and we are roaming through Chula Vista, we came to drop off a piece of mail now its become a full fledged trip, with coffee and mini donuts and sitting on a curb just talking about how flat the tires are getting and I not being able to tell the difference.

gosh now the topic of the DMV came up, I dislike with a passion the DMV so much besides I'm not very confident when it comes to things like that just because I don't want to mess up, sure I passed the first time but gosh what a hassle to go and wait a couple of hours in a building that seems to be caught in an early 90s stage. I dread not passing and having to come back to retest ugh what a hassle, but then again public transportation won't do me much justice either with the budget cuts and major changes that seems more of a hassle now.

Also what are all these people doing out right now shouldn't they be at home sleeping and off the road, are they on their own adventure? What are they thinking? What's going on in their lives?

Okay I'm gone now before I start over thinking these things.
